In light of the recent social media controversy surrounding sectarian clashes and the disrespect shown to highly respected Ulema from various sects, I strongly condemn these actions and call for peace and unity. It is disheartening to witness these divisive forces that threaten to undermine the harmony among the Muslim community. We must follow the example of our righteous predecessors (Aslaaf) and spread the peaceful message of love, mercy, and mutual respect, rather than heightening tensions.
The issues we are facing today, such as drug addiction and other social evils, require our collective attention and efforts. These are the battles we should be fighting, not those that divide us. We must strive for unity based on the Quran and Sunnah, for it is these two sources that bind us as true followers of Islam, not any individual, no matter how revered.
While Ala Hazrat (Imam Ahmad Raza Khan) is undoubtedly a crown in our hearts and a pride for Ahlus Sunnah, it is important to remember that his views, though highly respected, are not obligatory for every follower of Islam. Ala Hazrat himself disagreed with his teachers on various issues, and it is perfectly acceptable for us to disagree with him as well, without questioning each other’s Sunni identity. We must be cautious, however, not to distort or misuse his name to justify wrong actions.
At the same time, let me be clear: this does not mean we will allow anyone to disrespect Ala Hazrat or any other respected Ulema of Ahlus Sunnah. We have deep reverence for them, and if anyone attempts to dishonor them, we know how to deal with the issue appropriately, in line with our principles.
I, along with many other scholars, have worked tirelessly to promote the cause of Ahlus Sunnah in Kashmir and beyond. However, it is deeply concerning to see some radical elements attempting to destroy the very work we have built. I call upon all Ulema, leaders, and fellow Muslims to focus on promoting peace, love, and mutual respect. Disagreement on secondary issues (Farooe) is natural, but we should never disrespect any scholar, even if they belong to a different sect, because our unity is rooted in our shared belief in the fundamental principles of Islam (Usooli issues).
Let us all unite for the betterment of our communities and stand firm in the fight against social evils that harm our youth and society. May Allah guide us all to be a source of peace and unity.
