Ameer e Karwan Addresses Thousands at the Urs Celebrations of Sheikh-ul-Alam (RA).
Among the ranks of the divinely enlightened mystics and accomplished saints of Kashmir, the Rishis of Kashmir occupy an exceptionally distinguished position, commanding profound reverence and respect. The leading figures of this spiritual tradition have served as exceptional guides of moral, intellectual and spiritual enlightenment, embracing the intellectual, religious and theological diversity of the Kashmir Valley across different historical periods. They not only acknowledged this diversity but also nurtured the outward and inward strength necessary to preserve it. At the pinnacle of this tradition of wisdom, spiritual insight and broad-mindedness stands the blessed personality of Hazrat Sheikh-ul-Alam Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani (RA), widely revered as Alamdar-e-Kashmir and Nund Rishi. Through his spiritual mission across every corner of the Valley, he became a profound source of knowledge and spiritual enlightenment, presenting the true message of Islam while firmly strengthening the foundations of social harmony, mutual respect and brotherhood. It is for this reason that, centuries after his passing, people belonging to diverse religious traditions, sects and schools of thought continue to cherish deep love and reverence for Sheikh-ul-Alam in their hearts. These observations were made by Chief of Karwani Islami International, Allama Dr Ghulam Rasool Hami, while addressing the Urs celebrations of Hazrat Sheikh-ul-Alam (RA). According to reports, thousands of people participated in the commemorative gatherings. Paying a heartfelt tribute to Hazrat Sheikh-ul-Alam on the occasion of his blessed Urs, Allama Hami observed that Sheikh-ul-Alam was the embodiment of divinely inspired knowledge and a profound realisation of the mysteries of the Divine. Alongside his spiritual eminence, he was an eminent social reformer, a preacher of truth and an unparalleled thinker. Allama Hami stated that, in his capacity as a social guide, Sheikh-ul-Alam consistently raised his voice against sectarian hostility and religious discord through his poetry, conduct and spiritual discourses. He devoted himself to educating and guiding people towards unity, encouraging them to live together in harmony and mutual understanding. Allama Hami further remarked that Sheikh-ul-Alam made mutual assistance, compassion, affection, equality, generosity and empathy the central themes of his life and mission. He continuously imparted these values through both his words and his actions. As a result, the spirit of tolerance, adaptability and inclusiveness became deeply embedded in Kashmiri civilisation and culture, a legacy that continues to endure, to a considerable extent, despite the transformations brought about by modern times. Allama Hami emphasised that the teachings of Sheikh-ul-Alam and his profound, wisdom-filled utterances are by no means confined to the Muslim Ummah; rather, they serve as a radiant beacon of guidance for the entire human family. It is this extraordinary spiritual legacy and exemplary character that continue to inspire people across religious and sectarian boundaries to remember him with the highest esteem and to seek blessings and spiritual benefit through relics associated with his sacred legacy. He further observed that the eradication of social evils, superstitious practices, religious innovations and destructive addictions such as substance abuse requires the strengthening of authentic spiritual guidance and the revitalisation of moral and religious values. He stressed that spiritual institutions and centres of guidance, inspired by the legacy of great spiritual luminaries such as Sheikh-ul-Alam (RA), can play a significant role in addressing these challenges. Therefore, he concluded, connecting the younger generation with the teachings and way of life of Sheikh-ul-Alam has become an urgent necessity of our time, both for the preservation of spiritual values and for the protection of faith, human dignity and the moral well-being of society.
