From just one court a few years ago to multiple active venues today, pickleball’s rise in Jammu & Kashmir has been phenomenal. Under the leadership of Farid Singh (President) and Viraj Singh (Secretary), the J&K Pickleball Association has transformed a small local initiative into a growing movement uniting players of all ages and backgrounds across the Union Territory.
Grassroots and Youth Development
Pickleball’s simplicity and energy have captured the imagination of young athletes across J&K. Under the guidance of Viraj Singh, the Association has been introducing the sport in schools, colleges, and academies — and the youth response has been tremendous. It’s inclusive, competitive, and easy to start, making it an ideal addition to J&K’s sporting ecosystem.
Journey to the IPA Nationals 2025
This marks the second year that Jammu & Kashmir is sending its team to the IPA Nationals, with players ready to represent the state with pride.
Farid Singh and Viraj Singh expressed gratitude to the Association’s 2025 partners — The Khyber Himalayan Resort & Spa, Vector X, TCI Max Cement, Redroom Sessions, and WHS Sports Hub — for their continuous support in helping grow the sport across J&K.
Infrastructure and Expansion
Despite challenges such as limited facilities and weather constraints, the Association has made significant progress through local collaborations. Both Farid Singh and Viraj Singh emphasized the importance of support from the J&K Sports Council and the Department of Youth Services & Sports to expand pickleball to every district in the Union Territory.
Pickleball and Unity
Pickleball has emerged as more than just a sport — it’s a connector. As Farid Singh noted, it brings people from different communities together through friendly competition and shared passion. In a region like J&K, that unity through sport carries deep meaning.
Vision for 2026
Looking ahead, Viraj Singh shared the Association’s goal of making pickleball accessible across every district of Jammu & Kashmir by 2026, with regular inter-district and national-level events. The vision is to make J&K known not just for its scenic beauty, but as one of India’s most vibrant pickleball destinations.
