Mumbai, Aug 14 : Prime Video, unveiled an intriguing and emotion-packed trailer for its upcoming original docuseries, Angry Young Men. The three-part docuseries masterfully captures the personal and professional journey of the legendary writer-duo Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, more popularly known as Salim-Javed. In the 1970s, they revolutionized Indian cinema by reinventing the Bollywood formula, introducing ‘angry young man’ heroes in a romance-dominated industry, and making action-dramas a beloved genre. Produced by Salman Khan Films, Excel Media & Entertainment and Tiger Baby, Angry Young Men is executive produced by Salma Khan, Salman Khan, Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, and marks the directorial debut of Namrata Rao.


Salman being Salman was in mood and stood behind Salim Khan who was seated on a chair, showcasing the rock-solid support to an old father from the son, that is the much-needed support to parents when they grow old. Setting a perfect example to the gen Zee.

When asked to quote one of the best dialogues from their [Salim -Javed] films without missing a chance Salman said, “Mere paas maa hai.” Aur woh bhi do hai… (I have two mother’s) For the unversed Salman Khan is the eldest son born to Salim Khan and Salman Khan. Later Salim Khan married Helen.


Javed Akhtar praising Salman Khan shared a sneak peek, “When I first visited Salim Khan’s house at Bandra, Salman wasn’t even one year old. He was a handsome looking child (woh bachpan se hi khoobsurat tha)The other children were born later while I used to be a regular visitor at their residence.’

Later, during the Angry Young Men trailer launch giving a sneak peek that happened on the sets of,” Kranti” Salman Khan unhesitatingly opened up about the writing credit fiasco of, “Kranti” film…stating that Manoj Kumar is taking away the writing credits of the film from Salim Javed the script writers duo.


Adding more Salman quipped, Manoj in an interview has said that he has written the,” Kranti” film’s dialogues and script.
Without missing a single minute Farhan added, ‘OH! We will have to make a separate documentary on Manoj Kumar now.”
Reacting to this Javed in a taunting manner he said, ‘I think it is honest of him that he has made this confession.”


Salman, opening the Manoj fiasco added, “For the matter of fact he says that I [Manoj Kumar] used to write and read it out to them [Salim-Javed]. But he did write it.”

Further explaining the term men stands for he said, “Salim Javed as screen writers put their life experiences in their writings. Taking from whatever they have seen, teachings from parents and learnings taken from the way their children have grown comprise their story writing and so their writings could hold the nerves of the audiences. Contrary to the other writers-,” Cinema se utha kar cinema mein dalte hai.”(they take from another cinema and put it back in their cinema)
Defining the correct meaning of being men he said, “God makes men, they don’t want to be men anymore. He makes a lot of men but this generation they don’t wish to be men”.
Salim Khan revealed about the beginning of his journey, “Though I began my glitterati journey working in front of the cameras, I soon realised that my true strength lies in telling stories. Writing came naturally to me, thus I started focusing on writing. After meeting Javed I knew his strength with the penning that we joined hands and our journey simply became happening did some great work and we are proud about it. I’m happy our journey is being documented for the future generations. Hope they will try to give their best and not be just confined to the society’s prescribed roles. Happy that our journey will unfold across the globe on Prime video.


Javed Akhtar shares, “I arrived in this city as a young man with no job, contacts, or money and often going to bed hungry; despite that, quitting never crossed my mind. What I always knew, however, was that my life story was something I would want to share with the world. Angry Young Men is set to premiere exclusively on Prime Video in India and in over 240 countries and territories worldwide on August 20.
