Uttar Pradesh Receives Leadership Award for Excellence in Agriculture

Farmers in the State Prospering Thanks to Yogi Government’s Efforts: Shahi

Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh has been conferred the Leadership Award for being a leading state in the agricultural sector. UP’s Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi, while receiving the award from Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, credited this honour to the change brought about by the Modi Yogi government. He noted that the state’s agricultural sector is growing at a rate of 18 per cent.

“This is the result of decisions taken by the government under the leadership of CM Yogi Adityanath over the past nine years, ” Shahi said. Farmers who were living under stress and crisis earlier are prospering now. They were neglected by the Samajwadi Party and the Congress government, he added.

Speaking at the event in Delhi, Shahi said that In a historic first decision, the government led by Yogi Adityanath waived loans worth ₹36,000 crore for 86 lakh farmers, relieving them of stress. This decision gave a new direction to farming in the state, resulting in a rise in food grain production in the state from 543 lakh metric tonnes—when the Yogi government assumed office—to approximately 750 lakh metric tonnes today.

“The state ranks first in milk and sugar production and leads the country in the production of fruits and vegetables,” the minister said.

Surya Pratap shahi said that the changes brought upon in the state in the last nine years in the agriculture sector are appreciated. The sector is witnessing participation from startups along with investments. The cooperative sector is also playing a vital role in the development of agriculture. Uttar Pradesh is making efforts at every level to fulfil PM Narendra Modi’s resolve of a developed and self-reliant India.

He said that awards not only help disseminate information about good work but also serve as a source of inspiration.
