Why spurt in attacks after 3 years of peaceful atmosphere, asks Hoteliers Club

Such incidents unacceptable, those behind are not humans, says Wangnoo

Srinagar, Nov 5: Questioning the spurt in attacks in Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Hoteliers Club on Tuesday seconded National Conference (NC) President Dr Farooq Abdullah in investigating the matter and identifying the people involved in such acts.
Addressing a press conference, the Hoteliers Club led by its Chairman, Mushtaq Ahmad Chaya, stated that National Conference (NC) President Farooq Abdullah is the top leader and whatever he has stated is true. “Is such incidents were not happening in the past three years then why now. This needs to be probed,” Chaya told the media persons at Hotel Radisson here.

He added that a meeting was held between the stakeholders of the tourism sector in which one of the ministers, Satish Sharma was also [present. “The participants condemned the spurt in attacks, which left several people dead and many injured as well. These incidents are unacceptable to the people of J&K,” he said.
“We have seen a decline in such acts in the past three years but now the spurt has been witnessed again. We want to tell those behind these attacks to stop it as the people here want peace only,” he said.
Furthermore, he stated that lakhs of people are associated with the tourism trade and there has been cancellation of some bookings as well. “The people are earning their livelihood and the booking cancellations would impact them. Therefore, we want peace to prevail and no cancellation at any cost,” he said.
Manzoor Ahmad Wangnoo, Chairman of Nigeen Lake Conservation Organisation (NLCO), said that those behind these attacks are not humans. “There is a need to look into the root cause of these issues including unemployment and drugs. A solution has to come out. However, I reiterate that those involved are not humans at all,” he said.
Rauf Tramboo. President, at the Travel Agents Association of Kashmir (TAAK) while talking to the media persons said that such attacks have affected the peaceful atmosphere. “We are at the back of the government in curbing such incidents so that these attacks are not repeated as it leads to the loss of precious lives and injuries to the people as well,” he said, adding that the anti-peace elements should be curbed at the shortest possible time.
Javeed Burza, President Pahalgam Hotels and Owners Association, said that it is not about the impaction tourism sector, but the incident people have been attacked, which simultaneously is an attack on every single Kashmiri.
“There is a need to see who is behind such activities and know their intentions as well,” he said.
Pertinently, nearly one dozen people have lost their lives in different attacks in Kashmir valley while several others were injured as well. The attacks have been condemned by one and all with the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha vowing to avenge every single drop of blood.
