Chief Minister expressed gratitude for the unprecedented success of “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign
Lucknow, July 9: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh scripted a new chapter in environmental conservation on Wednesday. As part of the’ Mega Plantation drive-2025’ and the campaign themed ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0’, a record-breaking 37,21,40,925 saplings were planted across the state by 6:06 pm on July 9, exceeding the government’s target of 37 crore by over 21 lakh saplings.
Known for his uncompromising stance against the mafia and compassionate approach toward children and the environment, CM Yogi once again demonstrated his deep commitment to ecological preservation.
In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call, the state launched a massive plantation drive, continuing its momentum from previous years to combat the growing threat of global warming.
Chief Minister Yogi personally participated in the campaign by planting Banyan, Neem, and Peepal saplings at Triveni Vatika on the banks of the Saryu river in Rampur Halwara (Ayodhya), dedicating them to Lord Shri Ram, Mother Earth, and mother. He later inaugurated Harishankari Vatika along the expressway in Kerma village (Sathiyaon block, Azamgarh), and also planted saplings at Chiluatal in the premises of the fertilizer factory in Gorakhpur.
Governor Anandiben Patel also participated by planting a Triveni (Peepal, Banyan, and Neem) spaling in Barabanki and launching a short film, along with distributing Anganwadi kits, nutrition bundles, and certificates.
Key ministers joined the campaign across districts, with Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya in Meerut, Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak in Lucknow, and Forest Minister Dr. Arun Kumar Saxena leading events in Ayodhya-Gorakhpur. Minister of State for Forests, Krishnapal Malik, participated in events in Azamgarh and Gorakhpur. All cabinet ministers also took part in plantation drives in their respective districts.
This unprecedented initiative reflects CM Yogi’s unwavering resolve to make Uttar Pradesh a leader in environmental sustainability and climate action.
Under the ‘Mega Plantation Drive-2025’ conducted on Wednesday, plantations were carried out on a massive scale across diverse locations, including forest land, defence and railway land, gram panchayat and community areas, expressways, roadsides, canals, railway track sides, land owned by development authorities, industrial zones, medical and educational institutions, other government properties, as well as private lands owned by farmers and citizens.
To ensure complete transparency, the campaign was monitored in real-time through an Android-based Plantation Monitoring System developed by the Forest Department. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had categorically directed that the plantation drive must not become a mere formality, as seen during previous governments, but should be backed by robust monitoring and accountability.
As a result, this year’s campaign included geo-tagging of all saplings, enabling precise tracking and follow-up. The Forest Department also maximized the use of technology to ensure every plantation effort is verifiable and impactful.
