Mathura, March 26 —Lord Krishna’s city is immersed in the devotion of Ma Durga as a large number of devotees throng into Devi temples on the occasion of Ashtami today.
On Ashtami, Mathura Lok Sabha MP Hema Malini, while extending her wishes, shared a video from her movie Dakshineshwara Kali Ma, asking youth, especially girls, to build a character inspired from Maa Kali, fierce in action yet compassionate.
This sent Kali into a more fierce state of Tandav, which threatened the very existence of universes. Lord Shiva steps in, and when she puts her feet on his chest, she realizes her mistake and calms down, she said.
The youth need to have more patience, perseverance, and humility to succeed in life. One needs to control his ego and kill negativity to make a better society the Lok Sabha MP said.
Mahagauri is the eighth form of Maa Durga . According to popular beliefs , Mata Parvati did penance to get Lord Shiva as her husband in this form, Raman Tandon, media in charge of the Ma Kali temple, said.
A yagna will start today in the evening and will finish tomorrow on Navmi. The temple distributed halwa chana as prashad, Dinesh Chaturvedi, Sewayat of Ma Kali Temple, said. The temple will be decked with Raibeli (Arabian jasmine) flowers tomorrow in Phool Bangla.
At Vrindavan’s, Katyani temple, a Shakti peeth, a special Sandhi Arati was performed today at 2.06 pm, the time when the Ashtami and Navami dates will meet . Vijay Mishra, manager of the temple, said. The arati is considered very auspicious and is attended by a large number of devotees.
Since morning a large number of devotees have been visiting the temple to offer prayers, Virendra Kumar Chaturvedi (Viru Panda), sewayat of the Baglamukhi temple in Mathura, said. The temple will organize a Hawan tomorrow, followed by Bhandara the next day.
