3rd National Lok held in Srinagar; 13671 cases settled

SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 13: In order to reduce the burden on the formal judicial system, promote access to justice, and encourage the timely delivery of justice, 3rd National Lok Adalat was today held under the aegis of NALSA and in pursuance to the direction of J&K Legal Services Authority across all district courts in Kashmir.
The National Lok Adalat was organized under the able guidance of Justice Arun Palli, Chief Justice of the high Court of J&K and Ladakh (Patron in Chief, J&K Legal Services Authority and Justice Sanjeev Kumar, Judge, High Court of J&K and Ladakh/ Executive, Chairman J&K Legal Services Authority, and overall supervision of Shazia Tabasum, Member Secretary, J&K Legal Services Authority.

At Srinagar, District Judiciary Srinagar, in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar and Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Srinagar successfully organized the 3rd National Lok Adalat at the District Court Complex Mominabad, Srinagar, and at the Court of the Additional Special Mobile Magistrate/JMIC Panthachowk.
The Lok Adalat was held under the overall supervision of Tasleem Arief, Principal District & Sessions Judge/ Chairman, DLSA Srinagar, along with Aadil Mushtaq, Chief Judicial Magistrate/Chairman TLSC Srinagar and Sajad Ur Rehman, Secretary, DLSA Srinagar.
The Lok Adalat was inaugurated by Tasleem Arief, Principal District & Sessions Judge/ Chairman, DLSA Srinagar, in presence of esteemed judicial officers, members of the bar, court staff and DLSA Staff.
To facilitate the amicable settlement of cases, 11 benches were constituted, in which Overall 13671 cases were taken up for settlement out of which 12528 cases were amicably settled & Rs. 4,94,62,242 was awarded as settlement amount.
