Srinagar, Jun 24: National Conference (NC) leader and winning candidate from Srinagar parliamentary constituency, Syed Aga Ruhullah on Monday became the seventh leader from Kashmir, who took oath as the Member of Parliament in Kashmiri language.
Earlier in 2019, all three winning candidates from Kashmir, who belonged to the National Conference (NC) including its president Dr Farooq Abdullah and senior leaders Muhammad Akbar Lone and Hassnain Masoodi took oath in the Kashmiri language.
Ruhullah became the seventh leader so far, who took oath as a Lok Sabha member in the Kashmir language.
Furthermore, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and former chief minister of erstwhile J&K State, Mehbooba Mufti also took oath as Lok Sabha member in Kashmir language in the year 2014.
During the oath taking ceremony today, Ruhullah said, “Bi Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, yus Lok Sabhayi hund member muntakhib karni aas, chus khoda vand ta’ala sindis navas peath halaf tulan zi bi thavi Bharati kis aayinas peath yus kanoon kin kayim sabdumut chu, poz aitikaad, bi rozi ami aayinuk wafadar, beyi thavi Bharatich sardari ti salmiyat barkarar, ti bi dimmi tim farayiz imandari saan anjaam, yim mae supurd sabdan veal che. (I Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, who got elected as Lok Sabha member, do swear in the name of Allah that I will bear true faith to the Constitution of India as by law established and I will remain faithful to the Constitution and will uphold the sovereignty and integrity of India. That I will discharge my duties with honesty).”
Pertinently, the NC leader and Member of Parliament from Anantnag-Rajouri seat, Mian Altaf Ahmad Larvi also took oath today as Lok Sabha member.
However, the MP from north Kashmir’s Baramulla constituency, Engineer Abdul Rasheed Sheikh, couldn’t take oath as Lok Sabha member today as he continued to remain under detention. His party had sought the interim bail from the court for Er Rasheed for the oath taking ceremony.
Nonetheless, the Delhi Court has asked the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to file its response with regard to the issue by July 1.
