In a recent meeting led by the Secretary of the Tourism Department, Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, an extensive strategy was unveiled to enhance Gulmarg’s appeal during the upcoming winter months. The plan is part of ambitious targets set by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to boost tourism in the Union territory.
The meeting brought together representatives from various departments responsible for ensuring the success of the plan, as they reviewed their preparedness for the Winter Tourism season. Among the departments present were the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC), Gulmarg Development Authority, Cable Car Corporation, Youth Services & Sports, Power Development Department (PDD), Roads & Buildings (R&B), Jal Shakti, and several others.
As per the officials, directions were passed for the uninterrupted Power and Water Supply. “The primary focus of the authorities is to guarantee that tourists experience the utmost comfort during their stay in Gulmarg. This includes ensuring uninterrupted power and water supply, regardless of weather conditions, to meet the needs of tourists,” said an official of the Tourism Department.
Recognizing that accessibility is key to a successful winter tourism season, extra emphasis has been placed on maintaining clear and safe roadways, particularly during heavy snowfall periods. The objective is to enable seamless and hassle-free travel for tourists.
