Baramulla, 25 December 2025: Baramulla Police, in coordination with the Mining Department, conducted a joint raid against illegal sand mining activities in the Chakloo area of Baramulla.
The raid was carried out by Police Post Old Town under the supervision of DO Old Town, PSI Amir Manzoor Shah, along with officials of the Mining Department, during which three tractors bearing registration numbers JK09B-2324, JK05G-4262, and one tractor bearing chassis number 3105EL4321363FD, all found loaded with illegally extracted sand, were seized.
Additionally, two water motors being used for illegal extraction of sand from the riverbed were also seized from the spot.
All seized vehicles and equipment have been taken into custody, and necessary legal action under the relevant provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act (MMRD Act) has been initiated.
Baramulla Police remains committed to curbing illegal mining activities and urges the general public to cooperate and report such violations to the nearest police unit.
