Corruption-Free J&K: Udhampur, Reasi take lead in J&K

Srinagar, Nov 25: While the efforts are going on to make Jammu and Kashmir, a corruption free place, the twin districts of the Union Territory have seemingly taken a lead in the mission and are inching closer to the target with not even a single case registered in the year—2024.
As per the details disclosed on the official website of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), the ACB Police Station Udhampur has not registered even a single case from January 01, 2024 till the month of November.

Udhampur and Reasi districts fall under the jurisdiction of the ACB Udhampur, thereby the figures indicate that the efforts have proven fruitful with not even a single case registered against any of the government functionaries within the two districts.
According to the figures, only three such cases were registered in ACB Police Station Udhampur in the year 2023, which include demand and acceptance of Rs 30,000 as bribe, abuse of official position and illegal mutation in revenue documents for land compensation.
The Police Station has also recorded a low number of corruption cases compared to other Police Stations in the year 2022 when only four cases were registered by the officials.
The then registered cases include misappropriation of funds, Demand and acceptance of bribe and misuse of official position.
In the year 2021, the Police Station has registered just two corruption cases while in the year 2020, only four such cases have been reported.
Pertinently, The Morning Kashmir has already reported that the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has filed over 260 cases since 2022 across the Union Territory.
As per the details, the ACB has recorded 267 cases since January 01 2022 till October 2024 while the highest number of 85 cases has been registered at ACB Police Station Srinagar only.
