LETHPORA, February 14: A big commemorative ceremony was organised on Saturday at Lethpora area in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district by the 185th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force to mark the seventh anniversary of the tragic terror attack of 14 February 2019.
The event was held in memory of the 40 brave jawans who laid down their lives in the line of duty while safeguarding the nation. Officers and personnel paid floral tributes at the martyrs’ memorial and observed a moment of silence to honour their supreme sacrifice.
The atmosphere remained solemn yet deeply patriotic, with participants remembering the courage, dedication and valour of the fallen heroes.
The solemn ceremony was attended by Gyanendra Pratap Singh, IPS, DG CRPF, Rajesh Kumar, IPS, ADG CRPF J&K Zone, Vineet Brij Lal, IPS, IG KOS, officers of Army, BSF, ITBP, SSB, JK Police and local administration.
DG CRPF Gyanendra Pratap Singh said that the sacrifices of the martyrs would never be forgotten and reaffirmed that the CRPF would continue to stand firm on every front to ensure the security of the nation. He also reiterated their strong resolve to combat terrorism with unwavering determination and commitment.
A poignant wreath-laying ceremony was followed by a Blood donation camp, which saw an overwhelming response from volunteers.
“The event was commemorated with a solemn memorial ceremony. Officers, dignitaries and Jawans paid heartfelt floral tributes at the Martyrs Memorial Lethpora, followed by a dignified salute by the Ceremonial Guard of CRPF. A minute silence was observed, accompanied by the mournful sounding of Bugle, as a mark of respect for the martyrs, CRPF officials told Morning Kashmir.
The atmosphere was heavy with emotion as the gathering remembered the supreme sacrifice made by the brave soldiers who laid down their lives in the line of duty. The ceremony was a poignant tribute to the martyrs, and the sense of reverence and gratitude was palpable.”
As a heartfelt tribute to the martyrs, CRPF, under the aegis of IG Kashmir OPS Sector CRPF, organized a blood donation camp, a tradition they uphold every year. The event
saw enthusiastic participation from all officers and jawans, who voluntarily donated
blood collectively contributing more than 100 units to the SMHS Hospital, Srinagar.
