DC discusses plan to streamline traffic, enhance facilities at GMC Rajouri

RAJOURI, NOVEMBER 02: Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma on Saturday chaired a meeting with key officials to address traffic regulations across critical areas, including the vicinity of GMC Rajouri.

The meeting emphasized streamlining traffic near key locations such as the entrance of the DC Office, Old City and town entry points from Salani and Kheora. As part of the decongestion plan, the DC directed to restrict heavy buses at Bella bus stand and create dedicated parking areas for two-wheelers.

“No heavy motor vehicles (HMVs) will be allowed to enter the town, and permits will be subject to cancellation in case of violations” he ordered. Additionally, a pedestrian zone and a designated open space for fire emergencies will be established near the City Thana.

To ensure seamless enforcement, the DC stressed coordinated efforts among all enforcement agencies. Following the meeting, he visited GMC Rajouri to oversee improvements and issued directives for enhanced parking management.

The Medical Superintendent of District Hospital has been asked to issue vehicle stickers for doctors and paramedical staff, streamlining entry and parking within the hospital.

“Designated parking zones will be created for three different categories, one for doctors and hospital staff, other for ambulances and a third for the general public. Further, CCTV cameras will be installed within and around the hospital premises, and any unidentified vehicles will be towed,” the meeting decided.

The Doctors conducting private practices were also advised to arrange parking for patients’ vehicles.

To streamline traffic within the town, the EO Municipality was instructed to prevent vendors from setting up temporary structures that obstruct traffic near the hospital and other critical areas. Additionally, the EO was directed to ensure all open drains are covered with grills to prevent blockages.

The ARTO was asked to ensure designated parking zones for E-rickshaws, improving organization and accessibility.

Furthermore, the hospital administration was directed to establish a disaster ward to better handle emergencies. The Executive Engineer PWD was also instructed to promptly repair potholes to improve road conditions.

The meeting and visit were attended by SSP Randeep Kumar; Dy. SP Satish Sharma; EO Municipality, SHO, DTI and other officials, who joined DC Rajouri at GMC Rajouri for a thorough inspection of the directives.
