PAMPORE, August 02: The Department of Agriculture, Zone Pampore on Saturday celebrated the release of the 20th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme at Kisan Khidmat Ghar, Ladhoo Pampore, coinciding with the national release of the instalment by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking on the occasion, Ishtiyaq Ahmad Bhat Agriculture Extension officer Pampore highlighted the significance of the PM-KISAN scheme in ensuring direct income support to small and marginal farmers, and its positive impact on agricultural sustainability and rural livelihoods.
Speaking to Morning Kashmir, Agriculture Extension Officer Pampore, Ishtiyaq Ahmad Bhat, said that today, August 2nd, the 20th installment of the Prime Minister’s flagship scheme, PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, was released across India. In this connection, a programme was organized at the Kisan Khidmat Ghar in the Ladhoo area at the Panchayat level, where local farmers were invited to participate and celebrate the occasion.
He stated that the objective of the programme was to raise awareness among farmers about the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme and how they can make judicious use of the installment, which is released three times a year. The event aimed to inform the farmers about the benefits of the scheme and guide them on how to utilize the funds effectively.
In the Pampore agriculture zone, around 5,500 farmers who have been brought under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. As of now, the pendency is almost zero, meaning nearly all eligible farmers in the area have been covered under the scheme.
Speaking about today’s development, the Agriculture Extension Officer said that with the release of the 20th installment of the scheme, funds have been credited to the accounts of over 5,000 farmers in the zone. He added that the purpose of organizing the event today was to mark this occasion, which is being celebrated across the country. Following official instructions, a local event was held at which farmers were invited to participate and celebrate the successful implementation of the scheme.
Speaking to Morning Kashmir, Bashir Ahmad Sheikh, a farmer from Shar Shali, said that today Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 20th installment of the PM-Kisan scheme, and they are thankful to him for this support.
He shared that the funds help them buy fertilizers and are used for agricultural purposes. “We receive Rs 2,000 every four months, which greatly benefits us, amounting to Rs 6,000 annually,” he said.
Bashir also expressed his gratitude to the Agriculture Department for reaching out to farmers with information about various schemes. He appreciated their efforts in providing door-to-door awareness and distributing seeds, weeders, and other agricultural items.
