DIRECTOR GENERAL NCC VISITS BARAMULLA GARRISON; PAYS TRIBUTE TO BRAVEHEARTS AND INTERACTS WITH CADETS

Baramulla, Aug 19: Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, Director General of the National Cadet Corps (DGNCC), visited Baramulla Garrison on 19 August 2025. The visit held special significance as the General Officer had earlier commanded the prestigious Dagger Division in the region.

The day began with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the Dagger War Memorial, where Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh paid homage to soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. The ceremony included a ceremonial presentation of arms by NCC Cadets of 3 J&K Battalion, NCC, as a poignant tribute to the fallen heroes.

Addressing NCC Cadets, Permanent Instructor (PI) Staff, Associate NCC Officers (ANOs), and Heads of Institutions, the DGNCC lauded their commitment to community service and nation-building. He emphasized the NCC motto “Unity and Discipline” and urged cadets to uphold the spirit of “Nation First” in all endeavors.

The General Officer also highlighted NCC’s initiatives to integrate modern technologies into training and curriculum, alongside enhanced focus on social sector activities to nurture responsible and patriotic citizens. On the occasion, outstanding NCC Cadets, ANOs, and PI Staff were felicitated for their achievements in NCC activities, sports, and exemplary contributions during Operation SINDOOR.

The visit concluded with a collective pledge by all present to dedicate themselves to the service of the nation and to work towards enduring peace and progress in Kashmir.
