Directorate of Handicrafts and Handloom, Kashmir Organizes Capacity Building Programme on Branding and Packaging under RAMP

Srinagar, July 22, 2025: The Directorate of Handicrafts and Handloom, Kashmir, being the Implementing Agency under the World Bank-supported Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP)programme, successfully conducted one-day Capacity Building Programme on Branding and Packaging at the Conference Hall, Exhibition Ground, Srinagar. This workshop is fourth in the series of Capacity Building Programmes under RAMP.

The session was designed to equip artisans and weavers with practical insights and strategies for effective product branding and modern packaging—critical components in enhancing market reach and competitiveness in both domestic and international markets. The training was conducted by experts and faculty from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), who shared hands-on guidance, case studies, and design approaches.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 100 artisans and producers, particularly those engaged in G.I/ODOP/DEHproducts. The programme aimed to empower grassroots craft producers by introducing them to evolving consumer preferences, branding tools, and value-added packaging techniques.

This initiative is part of a broader series of capacity-building efforts under the RAMP scheme aimed at strengthening MSMEs and the artisan community of Kashmir by improving product positioning and market access.

The Directorate remains committed to providing ongoing support to artisan clusters, cooperatives, and entrepreneurs through training, infrastructure, and market linkages to ensure sustainable livelihoods and the global recognition of the region’s rich craft heritage.
