Drug Awareness Drama Inspires Students in Srinagar

Srinagar: As part of the nationwide anti-drug awareness campaign, the District Administration Srinagar in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages organised a drama skit entitled “AALOVE” presented by Curtain Call Theatre at SP Higher Secondary School on 28-04-2026.
The programme was organised with the objective of spreading awareness among students regarding the harmful effects of drug abuse and encouraging youth to adopt a healthy and positive lifestyle. A large number of students and members of the teaching faculty attended the event and appreciated the meaningful presentation.

The skit “AALOVE” effectively highlighted the social and psychological consequences of drug addiction through a powerful dramatic performance. The artists successfully conveyed the core message of the campaign in an engaging and impactful manner. The performance not only entertained the audience but also educated them about the importance of staying away from drugs and contributing towards a drug-free society.
Principal of SP Higher Secondary School, Mr. Ajaz Ahmad Reshi, was the chief guest on the occasion. He appreciated the initiative taken by the District Administration Srinagar and JKAACL for organising awareness programmes through cultural activities and stressed the need for collective efforts to eradicate the menace of drug abuse from society.
Dr. Syed Iftikhar Ahmad from Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages conducted the proceedings of the event and highlighted the importance of art and theatre as effective mediums for social awareness and public education.
The programme concluded with appreciation from the audience for the artists and organisers for presenting a socially relevant and thought-provoking performance.
