J&K attains 2nd position in online services

Srinagar, Aug 23: Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed greater transparency since the government last year launched e-UNNAT where people can avail of all government services under one platform. With this, Jammu and Kashmir has attained the second position in the country amongst States/UTs in the number of online services provided to the citizens.

With the help of e-UNNAT, a government portal, people are availing all government services at the click of a button and bringing relief to people from unnecessary hindrances at different official levels in the Union Territory.

With 913 online services, J&K has overtaken Kerala which provides 911 services online and is placed at second position in the country after Madhya Pradesh. These measures have veritably enhanced the transparency and accountability in the functioning of government departments besides taking administration at the doorsteps of the people in the UT, officials said.

These include nursery registration, application for reelers in sericulture, license of fertilizers/pesticides, water connection, domicile certificate, character certificate, marriage certificate, income certificate, legal heir certificate, dependent certificate, property certificate, livelihood scheme and others.

According to official details available with Morning Kashmir, at least 300 online services have been linked for feedback.

All government services have been made available in digital format on this portal.

With the help of this single-platform portal of the state government, citizens will not need to visit different portals to get different types of services from different government departments.

A senior official said this portal is an important step in the digital journey of Jammu and Kashmir by connecting it with the concept of Digital India. “Jammu and Kashmir is the first Union Territory in India to use and implement its digital services under the Government. This will save both money and time of the citizens of the Union Territory and will also bring transparency in the system,” the official said.

The e-UNNAT was launched on July 14, 2022, by Arun Kumar Mehta, Chief Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir. This portal gives a unique identifier which is accessible to the user while being transparent.

All government services are made available in digital format on this centralized portal so that users do not need to visit different portals to get different services.

Giving details, another official said that if anyone has to get various government certificates then they have to click on the option of “Revenue Department”, after which they can get an Income Certificate, Character Certificate, Category Certificate, Marriage Certificate, Unemployment Certificate, SC/ST Documents like caste / scheduled tribe certificate, etc can be obtained.

Apart from this, under “Housing and Urban Development Department”, you can get information about the list of mobile tower installation permission applications, applications regarding death certificates, applications regarding correction of birth certificates, etc, the official added.

The Chief Secretary AK Mehta has commended the efforts of the IT Department and NIC for the progress made in enhancing the number of online services of different departments.

He emphasised on the need to identify more citizen-centric services, especially in the areas of health, education and ‘Nasha Mukht J&K’ for development in online mode so as to reach a wider section of the population.
