Srinagar Mar 7: The Jammu and Kashmir administration is saving Rs 400 crore for the public exchequer annually since discontinuing the 150-year-old tradition of Darbar Move.
According to official figures, the ending of 150-year-old tradition of Darbar Move has resulting in Rs 400 crore saving annually to the public exchequer.

“The initiatives undertaken have paved the way for a more efficient, responsive, and digitally enabled government, thus reinforcing the path towards a prosperous and connected future for the region. The Information Technology Department remains dedicated to the vision of ‘Digital J&K,’ ensuring that the momentum of progress continues to benefit the citizens,” the documents read.
Leveraging mobile penetration, the ITD launched the m-Seva platform, enabling communication with citizens via bulk SMS in multiple languages. “Currently there are 18 government departments utilizing bulk SMS service on m-Seva platform. More than 7.16 lakh SMSs have been consumed,” the figures reveal.
Similarly, the introduction of EPM revolutionized employee performance appraisal by allowing monthly self-appraisals for government employees.
This innovative approach enhances human resource management and accountability. This system is the first of its kind introduced anywhere in India by a State or UT Government. In the year 2021, the National e-Governance Delivery Assessment Report ranked J&K as the top Union Territory in e-Governance, both in the state portal and online services.
To enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, transparency and equitability in the delivery of public services and all the functions of the government and to empower the citizens, by leveraging the power of digital and emerging technologies vision documents of Digital J&K was launched.
Three critical IT policies viz. Email Policy, Password Policy & Policy on Use of IT resources have been adopted to ensure the secure and efficient use of digital resources in government operations, emphasizing security and reliability, the figures reveal.
Besides, the government has formulated a comprehensive AI strategy with a focus on areas like healthcare, agriculture, mobility, education, and law enforcement.
Similarly, established in collaboration with National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), this center offers training on the latest trends in cyber security to government officers. “As on date, around 200 officers from various departments have been given offline training on Cyber security at National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) Centres at Jammu and Srinagar.”
