Srinagr, Oct 7: The stage is all set for the counting of votes for the assembly elections on Tuesday, which will clear the picture on the next government formation in Jammu and Kashmir.
The District Election Officers (DEOs) have made elaborate arrangements at the counting centres where the votes will be counted for the 90 assembly segments, which went on polls in three phases from September 18, 2024 to October 01, 2024.
The DEOs have finalized the surveillance & security measures, seating arrangements, transporting of EVMs and the technical setup at the Counting Halls to ensure transparency, accuracy and the timely announcement of counting results.
The DEOs have stressed on ensuring seamless arrangements and facilities in place for counting centres, strong rooms, CCTV links and training of manpower for upholding the sanctity and integrity of the democratic ethos. They have emphasized that the counting process will be done as per ECI guidelines under video recording.
In Srinagar, the EVMs are presently kept under a three-layer security cordon in strong rooms at SKICC-Centaur, after the voting process was completed on September 25, 2024.
While the majority of exit polls have predicted hung assembly and giving an edge to National Conference-Congress alliance, the picture will get cleared on Tuesday as the votes will be counted for all the 90 assembly segments.
The three-phased assembly polls were held after the gap of one decade in Jammu and Kashmir while the Union Territory has been without an elected government for the last six years as the previous BJP-PDP coalition government parted ways in mid 2018.
