Twin capitals divided—Sgr sides with NC-Cong alliance, Jammu favours BJP

Srinagar, Oct 8: As the results were declared for Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections on Tuesday, the verdict has shown a complete dissimilarity in the twin capitals including Srinagar and Jammu.
In Srinagar, the people have voted and favored the candidates from National Conference (NC) and Indian National Congress (INC) as the two ally partners have secured all eight seats from the summer capital with NC getting a major share of seven seats and Congress winning one.

However, Jammu district has favored BJP candidates from all 11 seats.
As per the details, Lal Chowk has won by NC candidate Ahsan Pardesi, Eidgah by Mubarak Gul, Khanyar by Ali Muhammad Sagar, Hazratbal by Salman Ali Sagar, Chanapora by Mushtaq Guroo, Habba Kadal By Shamim Firdous and Zadibal by Tanvir Sadiq. These seats are in the kitty of NC while INC’s J&K President Tariq Hammed Karra has won Central-Shalteng.
In the contrary, all the 11 seats in Jammu district have been won by BJP candidates.
Sham Lal Sharma has emerged victorious from Jammu North seat, Yudhvir Sethi has won Jammu east, Arvind Gupta has won Jammu West, Dr Narinder Singh Raina has won Jammu South, Rajiv Kumar secures Bishnah, Gharu Ram Bhagat has won Suchetgarh, Vikram Randhawa secures Bahu, Davinder Rana secures Nagrota, Surinder Kumar Bhagat won Marh, Mohan Lal Bhagat won Akhnoor and Rajiv Shamra won Chhamb.
Pertinently, NC has emerged as the single-largest party in the assembly polls by securing 42 seats followed by BJP with 29 seats, INC 6, PDP 3, PC one and Independents emerged victorious on seven seats across Jammu and Kashmir.
