On the occasion, the first freight train, loaded with cement, arrived at Pampore Railway Station and was formally received by the Chief Area Manager along with railway officials and traders. The arrival of the train marks another important milestone in the expansion of rail-based cargo services across the Kashmir valley and is expected to enhance the movement of goods in Central Kashmir.

Speaking to the media, Chief Area Manager Kapil Sharma described the inauguration of the Goods Shed and the arrival of the first freight train as a landmark achievement in strengthening the Valley’s freight transportation network. Members of the business community welcomed the initiative, describing it as a long-awaited and much-needed development. They said the availability of rail-based freight services at Pampore would benefit traders, industries, and consumers by improving the supply chain, reducing transportation costs, and ensuring the timely availability of essential commodities at competitive prices.

They added that the arrival of the first cement-laden freight train marks the beginning of a new era in cargo transportation in Central Kashmir.
