Srinagar, 24th January 2025: Srinagar witnessed a historic gathering at the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) on the eve of National Road Safety Month 2025, as the nation celebrated its first-ever National Drivers’ Day. The event, an unprecedented milestone in the Indian transport sector, brought together drivers, road safety stakeholders, and the general public under one roof to honor the vital role of drivers and promote road safety awareness.
The event was graced by RTO Kashmir Qazi Irfan Rasool as the chief guest, along with ARTO Srinagar Dr. Farhana Asgar, Er. Mubashir Jan, Advocate Feroz Ahmad, and senior trade union leader Mohammad Afzal Bhat Fatehpuri. The dignitaries felicitated participants, drivers, and other guests for their contributions to the event.
A series of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC)-based programs were conducted nationwide, including interactive workshops, expert talks, and safety demonstrations at IHM Srinagar. These aimed to educate drivers and commuters on road safety, traffic rules, and defensive driving techniques.
Organizers emphasized sustained efforts in road safety and praised the drivers’ resilience. The event marked a significant step toward fostering a safer driving culture and reducing road accidents across India.
