Inauguration of Advanced Immunohematology Technology at GMC Baramulla

Baramulla 18th Nov 2025 The Department of Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion (Blood Centre), GMC Baramulla, proudly inaugurated the semi-automated analyser using column agglutination technique (Gel Card Technology) today. The ceremony was graced by the Worthy Principal Prof. Dr. Majid Jahangir, accompanied by MS Dr. Parvaiz Masoodi, Registrar Academics Prof. Dr. Shafqat Ahmad Lone, HOD Blood Centre Dr. Saadat Nazir Shah, HOD Pathology Dr. Baba Iqbal Khaliq, along with HODs from various departments, CMO’s and dedicated staff members.

The addition of this cutting-edge technology has brought laurels to the hospital. It will significantly enhance diagnostic capabilities in:

  • Blood grouping and crossmatching
  • Direct Coombs Test (DCT) and Indirect Coombs Test (ICT)
  • Resolving blood group discrepancies
  • Antibody screening
  • Ruling out alloimmunization

This advancement is expected to greatly improve patient care, particularly for pregnant women, multi-transfused patients, and pediatric cases.

On the occasion, the HOD Blood Centre expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Principal and MS for their support in equipping the centre with this modern technology.
