Indian Army Leads Swift HADR Operation, Rescues 34 Trapped in Watargam Flooding

Sopore, March 31: A prompt Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operation was successfully carried out by the Indian Army in the Watargam area following heavy rainfall on Tuesday.
Continuous and intense rainfall led to a sudden rise in water levels in a nearby stream, causing flooding in a local school hostel. As a result, 30 school children along with 4 teachers were trapped inside the premises with no safe exit routes.

Upon receiving the distress call, rescue teams of the Indian Army responded swiftly. Despite challenging conditions and dangerously high water levels, the teams managed to reach the stranded individuals and safely evacuate all 34 persons to secure locations.
Following the evacuation, the rescued children and staff were provided necessary assistance, including medical care and refreshments.
The timely and coordinated response ensured that all lives were saved, and the situation was brought under control without any casualties.
The rescue operation was a joint effort involving Sopore Police, 32 Rashtriya Rifles (32 RR), local residents, and the district administration.
The operation highlights the unwavering commitment of security forces and civil authorities in assisting local communities during emergencies and natural calamities.
