Bandipora, June 2: In a major healthcare outreach initiative, the Indian Army’s Bandipora Rashtriya Rifles Battalion organised a comprehensive Eye Medical Camp at NM Higher Secondary School to enhance access to specialized medical services in remote areas of the district.
The camp was conducted by Army medical teams in collaboration with civil doctors and eye specialists from 92 Base Hospital, Srinagar. A total of 787 patients were examined and treated during the camp. Services included vision screening, detailed eye examinations, medical consultations, distribution of free medicines, and provision of spectacles to those in need.
The camp witnessed an overwhelming response from local residents, including women, children, and elderly citizens. Patients suffering from common eye ailments received timely diagnosis and treatment, while cases requiring advanced medical care were referred to higher healthcare facilities for further management.
Locals expressed their appreciation for the initiative, stating that they often have to travel to Srinagar to consult eye specialists.
Beneficiaries thanked the Indian Army for bringing expert healthcare services directly to their doorstep, thereby saving them both time and expenses.
In addition to treatment, awareness sessions on eye care, personal hygiene, and preventive healthcare measures were conducted to educate the public on maintaining good eye health and preventing avoidable vision-related problems.
The initiative not only promoted health awareness but also strengthened community outreach and civil-military cooperation. Through such humanitarian efforts, the Indian Army continues to contribute significantly to the welfare of the local population while fostering trust, goodwill, and a strong bond with the people.
