Indian Army Saves Pilgrim in Distress During Amarnath Yatra

Baltal July 2025: Indian Army continues to serve as a lifeline for countless pilgrims undertaking the arduous Amarnath Yatra, especially along the treacherous Baltal route, where high altitude and unpredictable weather pose constant risks.

One such heartening incident involved 31-year-old Roshan, a pilgrim from Rajgir, Bihar, who found himself in grave distress during his journey. Roughly 200 metres short of the Kali Mata Mandir, Roshan was spotted by an Army patrol, breathless and visibly struggling.

Sensing the urgency of the situation, Havildar Vinod, who was leading the patrol, promptly checked Roshan’s vitals and discovered his blood pressure was dangerously abnormal. Without wasting a moment, the patrol team securely strapped Roshan onto their modular stretcher and swiftly evacuated him to the nearest Army medical detachment.

Thanks to the Army’s timely intervention and the application of high-altitude medical protocols, Roshan was successfully stabilised. Soon after, he regained enough strength to continue his pilgrimage.

Before resuming his journey, a visibly grateful Roshan expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Indian Army for saving his life and ensuring his safe passage.

This incident is yet another reminder of the Indian Army’s unwavering dedication—not just to national security, but also to humanitarian service during the sacred Amarnath Yatra.
