India’s National Flag Trumps Terror As J&K Independence Day Celebrations See Huge Rush

Srinagar, 15 Aug : For the first time after so many decades, Srinagar’s Bakshi stadium saw a huge rush of people for the Independence Day celebrations.
Videos and Pixs showed long ques of people outside the stadium. Some people were seen waving the Tricolour at the Srinagar’s Lal Chowk.
Senior Officials told Morning Kashmir that there were no restrictions for the citizens for today’s big event and also internet curbs have been lifted today in the valley.
He said Jammu and Kashmir administration had asked people to participate in the function in large numbers, and only valid identity proof was required to be carried along.
“We are happy that there are no restrictions and people are allowed to enter without any special passes. This is how it should have been in the first place,” Abid Hussain, a young man in the stands, said.
Shaista Bano had come from Ganderbal district to witness the parade.
“I was longing for so many years to see the parade. When I heard that anyone can enter the stadium, I decided to come this time,” she said.
Bakshi Stadium hosted the Independence Day function after a gap of five years after it was closed in 2018 for renovations.
Government employees also attended the event that was addressed by Manoj Sinha, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. The administration had made it mandatory for government officials and employees to attend the Independence Day function.
Since the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, the Lieutenant Governor appointed by the Centre is the chief guest at these functions.
