GANDERBAL, MAR 08 : A vibrant celebration of International Women’s Day 2024 was today held at Ganderbal, as various governmental bodies and organizations came together to honor women’s achievements, advocate for gender equality, and raise awareness about women’s rights.
The mega event held at the Conference Hall of Mini Secretariat Ganderbal, was organized by the One Stop Centre (OSC) Ganderbal, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), District Administration Ganderbal, District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Department of Education, Department of Social Welfare and Women’s Cell Ganderbal.
The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Ganderbal, Shyambir graced the occasion as the chief guest, highlighting the importance of fostering a violence-free environment for women in Ganderbal.
During the event, the DLSA provided crucial information on laws concerning women, with a focus on enhancing legal awareness among women, empowering them with knowledge about their rights and entitlements.
Distinguished speakers addressed various facets of gender equality, women’s empowerment, protection from domestic violence, and the imperative for social, economic, and educational empowerment for women.
In consonance with the event, the Department of Education conducted a brief demonstration on voting procedures under the Sveep programme, reinforcing the importance of women’s participation in the democratic process.
The event concluded on a resounding note, underscoring the collective commitment to advancing the rights and opportunities of women in Ganderbal.
