International Youth Day: GDC Ajas & GDC Sumbal unite for Cleanliness and Mental Health Awareness

BANDIPORA, AUGUST 12: In observance of ‘International Youth Day,’ a significant initiative was undertaken through the joint collaboration of the Red Ribbon Clubs and NSS Units of both GDC Ajas and GDC Sumbal.

In association with the Manasbal Development Authority, a Cleanliness Drive and Mental Health Awareness Campaign were successfully organized to promote environmental consciousness and mental well-being among the youth.

The day commenced with a Cleanliness Drive at the Manasbal Park, where students from both GDC Ajas and GDC Sumbal participated enthusiastically. The active involvement of students in this drive besides contributing to the beautification of the local environment also instilled a sense of responsibility towards maintaining cleanliness and preserving natural spaces.

Following the Cleanliness Drive, a Mental Health Awareness Campaign was held, featuring insightful talks from distinguished speakers.

Prof. Mehraj Din, NSS Programme Officer GDC Ajas and Prof. Shafia, Convenor Red Ribbon GDC Sumbal, addressed the students on the importance of mental health. Their speeches highlighted the need for awareness and the de-stigmatization of mental health issues, emphasizing the critical role that mental well-being plays in the overall development and success of young individuals.

GDC Ajas is conducting these activities under the guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. Shabeena Shawl, who commended the collaboration between the colleges and expressed hope for continued joint efforts in future initiatives aimed at youth empowerment and community development.
