SRINAGAR, JAN 04: Director General of Police (DGP) RR Swain from Jammu and Kashmir is set to participate in the three-day national conference of Director Generals of Police (DGPs) and Inspectors General of Police (IGPs) scheduled to commence today in Jaipur.
The conference, to be held at the Rajasthan International Centre (RIC) in the city’s Jhalana area, will address critical issues such as terror threats in Jammu and Kashmir, cyber frauds, and the activities of pro-Khalistani groups.
The conference, beginning at 2 pm on Friday tomorrow, will witness the attendance of about 250 officers in the ranks of DGPs and IGPs, both physically and virtually.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to be present throughout the conference, which will encompass several sessions.
In addition to the pressing concerns of terror threats, cyber frauds, and pro-Khalistani activities, the agenda includes discussions on the implementation of recently-enacted criminal laws, the Maoist problem, inter-state police coordination, and preparations for handling security issues during general elections, as highlighted by a Union Home Ministry official.
While a couple of senior police officers from Jammu and Kashmir are expected to attend the conference virtually, DGP RR Swain will actively participate in the deliberations.
The conference will feature officers delivering presentations on specific subjects such as counterterrorism, online fraud, cross-border terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, activities of pro-Khalistani groups, and Left Wing Extremism.
The aim of the conference is to provide a platform for in-depth discussions on facing emerging internal security challenges.
With a comprehensive agenda, the conference is poised to foster collaboration and strategic planning to address the diverse array of issues affecting national security.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also set to inaugurate the Conference.
One of the primary agendas of the conference is to discuss the roadmap for the implementation of new criminal laws. Additionally, the gathering will explore futuristic themes in policing and security, focusing on challenges posed by emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Deepfake, along with strategies to address them.
The conference serves as a platform to identify actionable points and monitor their progress, with regular presentations made before the Prime Minister.
The National Security Advisor, Minister of State for Home, Cabinet Secretary, and senior officials of the Government of India, along with DGP of States and UTs, Heads of Central Armed Police Forces, and Central Police Organisations, are also expected to attend.
Since 2014, Prime Minister Modi has actively participated in the annual DGP conferences, demonstrating a keen interest in discussions related to policing and internal security.
The conference not only facilitates formal sessions but also encourages free and informal discussions, allowing senior police officers to share their views and recommendations on key issues affecting the country. Previous conferences have been held in various locations across the country, and this year’s event promises to be another significant forum for shaping India’s policing and internal security strategies.
