GANDHINAGAR, DEC 09 : Jammu and Kashmir Tourism is intensifying its efforts to promote niche tourism segments such as Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) and Golf. After the success of hosting the G20 event at SKICC, the tourism officials participated in the CIC Conventions India Conclave from 7th to 9th December at Mahatma Mandir Convention Centre in Gujarat.
Organized by the India Convention Promotion Bureau (ICPB), which operates under the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, the conclave provided a crucial platform for showcasing Jammu and Kashmir’s potential as a destination for high-end conferences and events. Shahnawaz A Shah, Managing Marketing at SKICC, presented the conference facilities and post-conference services offered by Jammu and Kashmir to delegates from across the globe, including MICE tourism organizers.
The Jammu and Kashmir tourism team engaged in B2B meetings and informal interactions with buyers who expressed a keen interest in organizing conferences and events in the region. The ICPB board announced its consideration of SKICC for hosting the next CIC, which would attract global participation.
The CIC Gujarat event saw the participation of 17 countries, including the USA, Argentina, France, Greece, Cyprus, and Mexico, along with fifty corporates, hotel chains, and convention centers from across India. The Jammu and Kashmir tourism team received a significant response from all participants, showcasing the region’s potential as an emerging MICE and golf tourism destination. The team included the CEO of Baderwah Development Authority, an Accounts Officer, an ATO, and the Marketing Manager of SKICC.
