JAMMU, DEC 11: Roots in Kashmir and Youth for Panun Kashmir, the two most prominent Kashmiri Pandit organizations, have welcomed the “historic” decision of the Supreme Court upholding the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A.
Neal Pandita, Coordinator of Roots in Kashmir, expressed gratitude for the decision, emphasizing that these articles directly conflicted with the Fundamental Rights enshrined in the Constitution. Pandita said these articles were misused to suppress the Hindu minority and weaker sections of society, acting as a shield for separatists and terrorists.
Vithal Choudhary from Youth for Panun Kashmir commended the Supreme Court for reinforcing the paramount importance of the Constitution’s basic framework and the welfare of the people. The ruling is a historic step towards ensuring justice and equality, Vithal said.
The global Kashmiri Pandit community is jubilant over the decision, which marks the end of Articles 370 and 35A, the statement said. Netri Bhat, a survivor of the Kashmiri Pandit genocide, expressed her joy, stating that these articles were exploited to establish an Islamic state within the secular fabric of India, leading to the tragic genocide of Kashmiri Pandits in the region.
