– A Call for Dignified
Jammu: A significant meeting of Kashmiri Pandits was held today at Kashmiri Pandit
Return to the Motherland. The meeting was prominently represented by Dr. Sandeep
displaced Kashmiri Pandit community to the Kashmir Valley.
The gathering witnessed enthusiastic participation from community members across the
region, who collectively deliberated on the issues hindering their return and proposed viable,
actionable solutions. The key points discussed and unanimously supported included:
- Strengthening the Security Grid in the Kashmir Valley to instill confidence among
the community to return and live on their own terms and conditions. - Economic and Employment Package: A demand for at least one government job
per displaced Kashmiri Pandit family to ensure social security. - Creation of Safe Living Zones in each district of the Valley, with adequate security
arrangements to house the returning population. - A Separate Union Budget specifically for the welfare, upliftment, and restoration of
displaced Pandits and their religious institutions. - Minority Status for Kashmiri Pandits along with the creation of a Separate Minority
Board. - Formation of an Empowered Committee by the Government of India to plan and
oversee the return and permanent settlement process. - Establishment of IT Hubs in Kashmir to facilitate relocation of young professionals
from the community working in India and abroad. - Support for Overaged Youth through soft loans and relaxation in government
norms to secure their livelihoods. - Nullification of Migrant Property Sales from 1989 onwards to prevent illegal
appropriation of community assets. - Formation of a Kashmiri Pandit Action Committee, comprising every Kashmiri
Pandit worldwide as natural members. A Core Committee made up of retired
judges, police officials, bureaucrats, business leaders, academicians, doctors,
engineers, and activists will spearhead strategic implementation. - Special Economic Package for Jammu Division: Recognizing the economic
implications of return, a demand was placed for a separate union budget of no less
than Rs. 3 lakh crore for Jammu Division.
The atmosphere was charged with a deep sense of purpose and unity. AALAV aims to
