Continuing with its doorstep outreach to farming community under Nationwide KHET BACHAO ABHIYAN campaign, agriculture department Ganderbal today on 12-06-2026 conducted awareness to the farmers of wakoora block Ganderbal
At the outset sectary agriculture miss netu gupta joint director horticulture agriculture Director agriculture kashmir Sartaj ahmad shah along with experts from allied sectors, elaborated on the genesis and underlying rationale of the KHET BACHAO ABHIYAN. He highlighted that while the Green Revolution played a pivotal role in making the country self-sufficient in food production, it also led to the intensive and indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides over the years, resulting in the gradual deterioration of soil health. He emphasized that the campaign aims to promote sustainable and regenerative agricultural practices to restore soil fertility, enhance nutrient-use efficiency, and ensure long-term agricultural sustainability.
The farmers were also sensitized about the importance and benefits of the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme. Officials explained how the scheme provides timely and affordable institutional credit to farmers for meeting crop production expenses, purchasing agricultural inputs, and undertaking allied agricultural activities.
The participants were encouraged to avail themselves of the scheme to reduce dependence on informal sources of credit and improve their financial resilience.Chief agriculture officer Ganderbal and other officers where also present in this program
