LG Sinha meets PM Modi, Rail Minister, focuses on developmental initiatives

Discusses digital connectivity, cultural exchange, prosperity for J&K UT

SRINAGAR, OCT 24: The Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha on Tuesday had a series of significant meetings in New Delhi, where he met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
During his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, LG Sinha extended warm Vijayadashmi greetings, conveying his best wishes for the festive season. He stated, “Met Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji today and wished him a blissful Vijayadashmi.”
Officials said that as a symbol of Jammu and Kashmir’s cultural richness, the LG presented a traditional offering called ‘Kong Posh to the Prime Minister,’ consisting of saffron flowers on behalf of the Union Territory’s people.
An image shared on the official account of the Office of LG captured the moment when Lieutenant Governor Sinha presented a beautifully crafted Kashmiri Paper Machie bowl filled with saffron flowers to Prime Minister Modi.
Sources indicate that the Lieutenant Governor, in his meeting with the Prime Minister, addressed a variety of developmental concerns pertaining to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
In addition to meeting Prime Minister Modi, Lieutenant Governor Sinha engaged in discussions with Ashwini Vaishnaw, who serves as the Minister for Railways, Communications, and Electronics & Information Technology. Their discussions encompassed a wide range of topics, with a particular focus on the implementation of Bharat Net Phase-III. This initiative seeks to extend digital connectivity to remote and challenging terrains, ensuring that even the most isolated areas can enjoy the benefits of digital communication and technology.
These meetings underscore the collaborative efforts to promote cultural exchange and digital connectivity in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, reaffirming the commitment to enhancing the region’s overall development and prosperity.
The Bharat Net Phase-III initiative is a significant endeavour that aims to revolutionize digital connectivity across India, particularly in remote and challenging terrains. Its goal is to ensure that even the most isolated areas can access the advantages of digital communication and technology, promising a more connected and technologically advanced nation.
Government officials emphasized the pivotal role that Bharat Net Phase-III will play in bridging the digital divide, especially in remote regions that have historically faced connectivity challenges. “This initiative is designed to bring high-speed internet access and digital infrastructure to these areas, creating new opportunities for education, healthcare, e-governance, and economic development.
These efforts align with the broader vision to promote cultural exchange and digital connectivity in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, reinforcing the commitment to enhancing the region’s overall development and prosperity by ensuring that even the most remote communities have access to the benefits of digital communication and technology”.
