Jammu, July 20: Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Sunil Sharma, on Monday visited the flash flood-affected areas of Poonch and Rajouri districts to assess the damage and review ongoing relief and rehabilitation measures.
Leading a BJP delegation, Sharma met families affected by the disaster and took stock of the ground situation. The delegation included BJP leader Ravinder Raina, MLA Sham Lal Sharma, Shehnaz Ganie, Gopal Mahajan, MLA Mohan Lal, and Zorawar Singh.
He urged the district administration to expedite rescue and relief operations, restore essential services, and implement a comprehensive rehabilitation plan to help affected families rebuild their lives.
He said the concerns of the affected people would be brought to the notice of the concerned authorities to ensure prompt assistance. Sharma added that the Central Government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has consistently supported people during natural calamities and all possible assistance would be sought for the affected districts.
Calling for coordinated efforts, Sharma said all government agencies must work with urgency and sensitivity to ensure timely relief for those affected. He stressed that the recovery and rehabilitation of flood-hit families should remain the top priority.
The BJP delegation reiterated its commitment to standing with the people of Poonch and Rajouri and assured that it would continue to raise their concerns with the appropriate authorities to ensure speedy relief and rehabilitation.
