Baramulla, July 20: In a major success for security forces, a huge cache of war-like stores was recovered from the dense forests of Kandi in Baramulla district during a joint search operation conducted by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPF and SSB.
Acting on specific intelligence provided by Baramulla Police regarding the presence of concealed war-like stores in the Kandi area, a large-scale search operation was launched on July 20 by 52 Rashtriya Rifles (Indian Army), Baramulla Police, 53 Battalion CRPF and SSB.
During the operation, security forces unearthed a significant quantity of arms and ammunition hidden deep inside the forest area. The recovered cache included two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), two pistols and 530 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition.
Officials said the recovery has averted potential threats and dealt a major setback to elements attempting to disrupt peace and stability in the region. The recovered material has been seized for further investigation, while efforts are underway to identify the individuals involved in concealing the war-like stores.
