Srinagar July 09: After days of intense heatwave conditions, Jammu and Kashmir witnessed a significant drop in temperatures on Tuesday, bringing much-needed relief to residents across the Union Territory. According to data compiled by Kashmir Weather, most places recorded below-normal daytime temperatures, marking a distinct end to the recent sweltering spell.
In the Jammu region too, temperatures took a dip. Jammu city recorded a maximum of 31.4°C, a notable drop from the 40°C-mark it touched last week. Banihal reported 25.5°C, Batote 23.3°C, Bhaderwah 25.4°C, and Katra 28.8°C.
“This is a significant break from the persistent heatwave we’ve been experiencing. The western disturbance and increased cloud cover played a major role in bringing temperatures down across the region,” said Faizan Arif, a well-known weather forecaster based in Kashmir. “Such relief spells are essential, especially for vulnerable populations who’ve been struggling with the heat,” he added.
The change in weather has brought a sigh of relief for farmers, students, and the elderly, who had been facing considerable difficulty during the prolonged heatwave. The cooler conditions are expected to persist for the next couple of days, with the possibility of light showers in parts of the Valley, as per forecasts.
With the mercury dropping to comfortable levels, normal outdoor activity has resumed in many parts of the region, and locals hope the respite continues.
