SRINAGAR, Oct 15: BJP J&K Spokesperson Manzoor Bhat today paid rich tribute to the legendary Kashmiri poet and writer, the late Ghulam Nabi Khayali Sahab, on his second death anniversary. In a commemorative event held at SP Club, Srinagar, Bhat joined senior journalists and intellectuals to celebrate the profound legacy of the literary icon and called for collective action to preserve the Kashmiri language and culture.
Ghulam Nabi Khayali Sahab was not just a poet; he was a towering pillar of our literary and cultural identity,” said Manzoor Bhat. “His contributions have enriched Kashmiri literature beyond measure, and his words continue to inspire and resonate with us. On his anniversary, we not only remember the man but also reflect on our duty to protect the very heritage he dedicated his life to.
The gathering discussed the pressing issue of the slow decline of the Kashmiri language and culture, emphasizing the need for concrete steps to reverse this trend. Bhat stressed that the sacrifices and contributions of literary giants like Khayali Sahab must not be forgotten.
It is our collective responsibility to ensure that the flame of our mother tongue and our rich traditions burns brightly for generations to come Bhat urged. To honour his legacy meaningfully, I propose that we work to introduce regular seminars, discussions, and workshops on his work in our colleges and universities. We must carry his mission forward by actively engaging our youth with their linguistic and cultural roots.
Bhat also praised young journalist Bilal Bashir Bhat for organizing a seminar as a tribute to Ghulam Nabi Khyal Sahab, highlighting his contributions to Jammu & Kashmir’s cultural and journalistic landscape. Bhat emphasized the importance of recognizing the sacrifices and achievements of past literary and journalistic figures, urging colleges and universities to take note and promote such initiatives to educate the younger generation.
