Srinagar, May 14: Targeting National Conference (NC) Members of Parliament (MPs) for maintaining silence in the parliament, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and former chief minister of erstwhile Jammu & Kashmir state, Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday stated that the party (NC) has destroyed the unity on mere few seats.
Addressing a gathering in South Kashmir, Mehbooba, said that the three MPs of NC, have failed to come up to the expectations of the people despite being in the parliament when the people here were facing difficult situations.
“Some people from NC have joined us. In case they could have been happy, they would not have joined us today,” Mehbooba said.
“The vote in Srinagar was for the rights of people. Everything is being snatched from the people like electricity, land, and other things. The people came out to send a message and preserve their rights,” Mehbooba added.
Pertinently, South Kashmir’s Anantnag-Rajouri seat is going for polling on May 25, where the elections have been deferred from May 07 in wake of the requests made by the political parties here in Jammu & Kashmir due to the closure of Mughal Road.
21 candidates are vying for the Anantnag-Rajouri seat where a tight contest is expected between National Conference (NC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
