MLA Pampore Hasnain Masoodi Attends Jal Jeevan Mission Awareness Programme in Pampore; Water Testing Kits Distributed to Strengthen Safe Drinking Water Monitoring

PAMPORE, MAY 13: To strengthen the delivery of safe and quality drinking water and promote community participation in water management, the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department on Wednesday organised a mega awareness-cum-distribution programme at Pampore in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

Chairman Housing Committee Jal Jeevan Mission and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Pampore, Retired Justice Hasnain Masoodi, attended the programme as the Chief Guest.

The event witnessed the participation of senior departmental officers, including the Executive Engineer PHE Division Awantipora, Assistant Executive Engineer Pampore and other officials. A large number of ASHA workers, members of Pani Samitis and Panchayat Secretaries representing various panchayats of Block Pampore were also present.

During the programme, water testing kits were distributed among Pani Samiti members, ASHA workers and Panchayat Secretaries to strengthen community-level monitoring of drinking water quality. Officials said the initiative aims to empower local stakeholders to regularly test water sources and ensure the supply of safe drinking water to every household.

Addressing the gathering, Masoodi stressed the importance of community involvement in maintaining water quality standards and safeguarding public health. He appreciated the efforts of the PHE Department for enhancing awareness, transparency and capacity building at the grassroots level under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

Later, the MLA, accompanied by officers from the Youth Services and Sports Department, visited Iqbal Sports Stadium Pampore to review the existing sports infrastructure.

During the visit, he assured that key developmental works, including construction of changing rooms, toilet blocks, installation of high-mast lighting and fencing of the stadium, would be taken up at the earliest. He directed the concerned officials to expedite the execution of these works so that improved sports facilities are made available to local youth and budding sportspersons of the area.
