Srinagar 26 September 2025 : The three-day Road Safety Capacity Building Course on the Motor Vehicles Act and Rules, sponsored by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), successfully concluded at the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) Rajbagh, Srinagar. The workshop was Organized by the Asian Institute of Transport Development (AITD), New Delhi, the workshop brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from MoRTH, the Jammu & Kashmir Transport Department, and Traffic Police officials, to enhance road safety practices in the region.
This training forms part of a sustained initiative over recent years aimed at addressing critical road safety challenges in Jammu and Kashmir. These include traffic congestion (jamming), frequent accidents, underage and reckless driving, negligent behavior on the roads, and broader enforcement of traffic regulations. Participants engaged in interactive sessions that covered the nuances of the Motor Vehicles Act, query resolution, and practical strategies for implementation, with officers commending the program for its relevance and calling for similar efforts across the Union Territory.
