Saudi Arabia on Saturday announced new restrictions on carrying holy ZamZam water out of the country even as it seeks to clamp down on passengers smuggling the elixir out of the country by hiding it in their luggage.
New restrictions on carrying holy ZamZam water outside of Saudi Arabia have been announced, as the country attempts to tighten down on travellers who transport the drink out of the country in their luggage. According to a directive signed by the Executive Deputy President for Hajj and Umrah Affairs, only travellers with valid Hajj or Umraah visas are permitted to transport ZamZam water on aircraft departing the nation.
Taking ZamZam Water from Saudi Airports Conditions:
-The water must be bottled by a licensed manufacturer.
-The water bottle must be sealed.
Bottles of ZamZam water are not allowed as part of the checked baggage.
-ZamZam water bottles cannot be carried in hand inside the plane.
-Must have valid Umrah/Hajj Visa
Taking ZamZam Water from Jeddah:
You can take ZamZam water if your flight is departing from the new Jeddah airport, King Abdulaziz International Airport Terminal 1. Also, passengers from the North Terminal at Jeddah Airport are allowed to carry ZamZam water, subject to the above conditions.
Taking ZamZam Water from Riyadh and Dammam :
Most airlines, including Saudi Arabian Airlines, Flynas, Air India, Emirates Airline, Qatar Airways, and Gulf Air, allow passengers to carry a 5-liter bottle of ZamZam water from Riyadh and Dammam airports as free baggage.
