Saudi Arabia arrests 13,308 illegals in a week

RIYADH — Around 13,308 violators of residency, labor laws and border security regulations were arrested in various regions of the Kingdom by July 29, 2023.

According to the Ministry of Interior, the arrests were made during coordinated field activities conducted by various security forces units around the Kingdom from 20 to July 26.

There were 7,725 arrests for violating the residency system, 3,427 for violating border security rules, and 2,156 for violating labour laws.

Another 572 persons were apprehended while attempting to enter the border into the Kingdom, with 62% being Yemenis, 37% Ethiopians, and 1% of other nationalities, and 58 violators captured attempting to escape Saudi Arabia.

Nine people were arrested for transporting and harbouring violators of residency and labour laws, as well as engaging in cover-up activities.

A total of 36,953 violators are currently subjected to regulatory processes, with 30,660 men and 6,293 women.

The Ministry of Interior emphasised that anyone who facilitates an infiltrator’s entry into the Kingdom or provides him with transportation, shelter, or any other assistance or service will face up to 15 years in prison and an SR1 million fine, in addition to confiscation of the means of transportation and accommodation.
