Srinagar, Aug 26: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unveiled its list of star campaigners on Monday for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections, scheduled in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1. The high-profile roster is headlined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Other prominent names include BJP President JP Nadda, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, and Chief Ministers Manohar Lal Khattar and Yogi Adityanath. The list also features G Kishan Reddy, Jitendra Singh, Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma, Anurag Thakur, and Smriti Irani among others.
Notable candidates include Syed Showkat Gayoor Andrabi from Pampore, Arshid Bhat from Rajpora, and Shagun Parihar, the sole woman candidate, contesting from Kishtwar.
The BJP’s strong performance in the recent Lok Sabha elections, where it won both seats in Jammu, has set the stage for an intense campaign. The National Conference also secured two seats in those elections.
As the region prepares for this crucial electoral battle, all eyes will be on the star campaigners and their impact on voter sentiment. The votes will be counted on October 4, potentially reshaping the political landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.
