DGP Swain pledges heightened anti-terrorism measures after tragic loss

SRINAGAR, DEC 07: Masroor Ahmad Wani, a police inspector in Jammu and Kashmir, who was targeted by terrorists while playing cricket in Eidgah on October 29, passed away at Delhi AIIMS on Thursday.
“After being targeted by terrorists during a cricket game in Eidgah, the police inspector received medical care at SKIMS Soura. Regrettably, despite being shifted to AIIMS New Delhi for specialized treatment, he succumbed to his injuries today,” officials said.

Inspector Masroor Ahmad had sustained gunshot wounds to his lungs and head during the attack.
Subsequently, security forces, including the Jammu and Kashmir police, launched a thorough investigation into the incident to identify and apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the attack.
Inspector Wani, remembered by colleagues and superiors as a brave and dedicated officer who served with distinction, has left a profound impact on the police force and the local community with his untimely demise.
The government has extended condolences, with senior officials offering sympathies to Inspector Wani’s family.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has already taken over the investigation into this terrorist attack.
NIA sources assert the agency’s unwavering commitment to uncovering the circumstances behind this cowardly act of terrorism. “We will spare no effort in bringing the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice. Our primary focus is on identifying, apprehending, and holding the culprits accountable for their actions,” stated the NIA.
Collaborating closely with the Jammu and Kashmir police and other law enforcement agencies and intelligence units, the NIA is working to gather crucial evidence, analyze forensic findings, and pursue leads to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the attack.
