Police, SFs, people have to work together to defeat enemies of peace: DGP

JAMMU, NOV 13: The Director General of Police (DGP) J&K, R R Swain, chaired a joint security review meeting in District Kulgam, emphasizing the need for a more effective mechanism to ensure public safety while dealing with elements inimical to peace. The high-ranking officers of Police, Army, and CRPF participated in the meeting, which aimed to review the security setup in the district, discussing measures to bring and retain peace and eliminate militancy at its roots.
Accompanied by ADGP Law & Order J&K Vijay Kumar and IGP Kashmir Zone V K Birdi, the DGP stressed the importance of maintaining a peaceful and secure environment through people-friendly policing. He highlighted the crucial role of the public in the prevailing scenario, urging officers to evolve more effective mechanisms to ensure public safety while dealing with elements disruptive to peace.

During the meeting, the DGP underscored the significance of strengthening the mechanism for sharing intelligence inputs among stakeholders at different levels. He expressed concern about terror elements across the border and their local associates attempting to disturb the peace in Jammu and Kashmir. The DGP characterized cowardly attacks on civilians and security forces as expressions of frustration from those seeking to disrupt peace and order in the region.
Emphasizing the need for continued action against terrorists and their sympathizers, the DGP directed officers to keep all suspicious elements under proper surveillance to thwart their disruptive designs. He instructed officers to strengthen and augment security grids in their respective areas, focusing on the safety and security of the general public and vulnerable sections.
Acknowledging the commendable role and cooperation of the public in maintaining peace, the DGP emphasized the necessity for collective efforts. He stressed the importance of maintaining close synergy between the police, other security forces, and the public to ensure a peaceful environment. The DGP concluded the meeting with a call for a united front against saboteurs and enemies of peace, underlining the shared responsibility of all stakeholders in maintaining the hard-earned peace in the region.
